Purity of the nation is of interest too

Recently I put up a blog post that included a video that illustrated the purity moral foundation in an evangelical media personality and how this leads to concerns of contamination for Christians and the church. In this video (an excerpt from Us and Them: Religious Rivalry in America), we find the same conservative moral foundations at work, not only purity, but also authority and loyalty, but these are connected not to the church, but instead to the concept of America as a Judeo-Christian nation. This means that adherents of other religions are viewed as a threat to the health of the American political system.
From a 2017 poll by Pew Forum: "The survey found 32 percent of Americans felt that it was very important to be a Christian to be considered truly American." (https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/a-third-of-the-u-s-says-being-christian-is-a-key-part-of-being-american/)
